Review::Maybelline Color Show in True Toffee

By some miracle of nature, my mother actually bought me lipstick last Thursday. She was randomly asking me questions about how much certain lipsticks were, and when I told her that the Maybelline Color Show lipsticks are still priced at Php165/tube, she said these exact words: "Let's go then".

Review::Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Fuchsia

I posted last night/early this morning on my other blog that I did a bit of a haul yesterday, and this post shall be a review on the first product that I purchased, which is the Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Shade 030 Fuchsia (by the way, if I misspelled that earlier in the other post, I'm really sorry. I'm all kinds of stupid).

Quick story: Folks were at the dentist and I was wandering around aimlessly on Watson's at Greenbelt 1 (always a dangerous thing when you're me). I was swatching the lipsticks on my hand and when I swatched this one on my hand, I saw how Felicity Smoak-esque the color was and I just went "Oh my effing goodness, I need this lipstick". So I asked the lady at the Revlon section of the store to get one from stock and bought it without even thinking. Now on to the review.

Review::Maybelline Colorshow in Red My Lips

I know I said that the lipstick I bought alongside my NYX Haute Couture would have a review posted "soon-ish", but I was doing some other stuff like fixing my shelf (singular for now; I've yet to work on others. But that one looks fabulous) and my table (also looks fabulous…or at least it used to), and trying to get a grip on my penmanship which went to crap since I didn't use it for months. But now I've found the time to actually write this down, so let's get started.

Review::NYX Round Lipstick in Haute Couture

I'll be the first to admit the following things: 1) I have a lipstick addiction that cannot and will not be stopped, and 2) I am not a cosmetician. I know nothing about the technical terms of something related to cosmetics, so all I can say is how I feel about the way something looks on my skin and how much I like it, personally. That being said, I'm going to start reviewing lipstick (and maybe in the future, other lip care/lip makeup products as well. I don't know. Stay tuned; it might happen) on this blog and try to make up for the craziness that I did here.

So let's start with the NYX Round Lipstick in shade 586A Haute Couture. This is my first NYX lipstick because yesterday was the first time I've been face to face with a NYX makeup counter. I went to the one in Mall of Asia, and I had the full intention of buying just one shade, because I was going to buy another one along with the NYX one I was buying. And when it came to choosing that one shade, I felt such pressure and went on "Doge" mode, saying "Wow. Such shades. Much lipstick." The lady at the counter looked at me as if she understood because I'm going to say this right now: The struggle is real.

This picture was taken from the NYX Philippines Facebook page. I think I landed in heaven when I got there because there were so many shades to choose from, and they took "affordable" to a new level. One tube is Php260 and it was so tempting to do a lipstick haul that was NYX-themed, it took all I had in me to just choose one shade.

After a good thirty minutes of going back and forth from the stock shelves to the testers, I finally picked Haute Couture because it reminded me of a lipstick my mom bought me for a choir presentation literally a decade ago. So, there's the story, now on to the review!

I'm not going to say anything about the tube because it's your typical black tube of lipstick, something classic and classy at the same time. I'm going straight to the lipstick itself.

This is the color of the lipstick. There's something so "spacey" about its color from the tube alone. When I did a swatch of it on my hand, it looked like this nice shimmery purple-y pink shade and I said "This will look amazing on my lips" and thought something along the lines of this:

Then when I did put it on my lips this morning, it felt so creamy and smooth that I knew right away that I would love this color forever and this would be something I'd definitely repurchase. And then I saw the glitters that it leaves on your lips when you apply it and I felt like a kid again because glitters!!

Even after wiping off the lipstick itself, the glitter stays! And you just feel like this awesome person with the most shimmery lips around. It made me feel like this little kid again, so fascinated with the glitter on my face, and I felt so content with my life for those few seconds that I just shamelessly stared at my own lips, tilting my face just so that the glitters catch the light.

I knew, even though it was just the first time that I used it, that I would obsess over that color for years to come, and that this was by far, one of the best purchases that I'd made this year…maybe even in my lifetime.

There's also something really cool I discovered about NYX lipsticks…the little round bottom with the color swatch? The new ones have more lipstick in them that you could apply with a little brush, so the value for money goes up even higher than it already did! The one I got was the one with the sticky gummy thing, though, so it's probably one of the older productions of that color, but it's fine with me because the lipstick itself was already the best thing ever. Maybe next time I buy a NYX lipstick, I'll get lucky and get the one with more lipstick at the bottom.

I'll do another review soon about the other lipstick I bought alongside this one soon enough.

30 Ways To Make A Girl Smile

Not all may be applicable, but I think at least a handful would be to the general public :))

1.) Tickle her
I don't have to explain this. Tickling makes people laugh; laughing entails smiling. Simple enough? Thought so. :D

2.) Smile at her first
Generally, when one smiles at another person, the other person's immediate reaction is to smile as well.

3.) Say "hi"
Girls love it when people notice that they're there. So if you say hi to her, she'll know that you noticed her and she would smile and say "hi" back.

4.) Offer her your arm when you're walking
We girls love a proper gentleman. Especially when we're in heels. Offer your arm when you know she's struggling and she'll appreciate you more and a huge smile will break out on her face.

5.) Hold the door open for her
Like I said, we love gentlemen. Step out of the room first, hold the door open, and let her step out of the room as well. Just make sure to not close the door on the face of anyone behind her like my courter did. :))

6.) Tell her a joke
Make sure it's a good joke or else you'll get a scowl instead of a smile.

7.) Sing for her even though your voice is bad
The easiest way to express yourself is through music. Sing a song for her, pitchy voice and all, and she'll know how much you care for her. After that, the rest will fall into place, especially her smile.

8.) Write a song for her
Nothing beats writing a song for someone. Taylor Swift does it all the time, why can't you? Put everything you feel for her into a tune, perform it for her, and she'll smile for the entire week. :-bd

9.) Look at her when you're performing in front of an audience
Public speech? Monologue presentation? Nervous? Look to her for confidence and strength and kill two birds with one stone. You'll be more comfortable and she'll smile at you to encourage you. :D Tried and tested.

10.) Sing "Just the Way You Are"to her
No explanation needed. Sing this and her smile's inevitable.

11.) Text her for absolutely no reason; just that you want to talk to her

12.) Chat with her until your bedtime
She'll have someone to talk to until you sleep. But the closest thing you'll get to her smile is a smiley.

13.) Ask her out
No explanation needed.

14.) Message her "goodnight"
It makes us smile to know you're thinking of us before you go to sleep :">

15.) Ask for her help because you think she's smart
Make sure to tell her you think she's smart/skilled/whatever's appropriate for the situation. That will make her smile for sure because someone's finally recognizing her for what she's good at. :D

16.) Tell her no one can look like her because she's too pretty to have a doppelganger
Absolutely no explanation needed.

17.) Take the workload off her shoulder and let her relax
Once she's relaxed, she'll take back her workload and thank you with a smile. :D

18.) Check up on her to make sure she's okay
It shows you care for her, which makes her smile.

19.) Greet her on her birthday, or at least the day before
It shows that you don't need Facebook to remind you that it's her birthday. You memorize her birthday. :D

20.) Add her on Facebook, not the other way around
It shows that she's important enough for you to press the Add button first. In my case, he added me within his first 24 hours of being on Facebook.

21.) Give her a card on holidays
Please sign it. Sure, anonymous, secret admirers also make us smile. But it makes us smile more if we knew who the card was from. Oh, and make sure you write her name in the card, not just sneak it into her bag.

22.) Act like a fool just because you know she'll smile
Do something foolish that you wouldn't do on your drunkest of days just because you know it'll amuse her and maybe make her smile even a small bit.

23.) Defend her
We girls love a knight in shining armor. That's like one of my dreams, having one. If you defend her when people are beginning to gang up on her, that's going to be double points for you. You make her smile and you just gave her a knight in shining armor. Even though we can take care of ourselves, sometimes it's nice to have someone slay a dragon for us.

24.) Laugh at her jokes
Makes her know you're paying attention, and makes her think you think she's funny.

25.) Take her side during arguments
If she's fighting or debating with someone, back her up to know she's not alone. Smiling is inevitable if you do that.

26.) Ask her things just to let her know you're listening
If you ask her about something she said a few moments ago, that'll make her see that you pay attention to her. Points for you.

27.) Finish her sentences
Or at least try to. It's cute. :D

28.) Say the same thing at the same time
You can't do this on purpose, obviously. But whenever this does happen, it's cute as fuck and makes her smile like a little girl with ice cream.

29.) Pass by her seat on your way to yours
If you do this, make eye contact with her or brush against her arm slightly. She'll be smiling and blushing, if she likes you. :">

30.) Take off your shirt
If you have abs, you'll make her smile and blush. If you don't, at least you'll make her smile and laugh/giggle. It also shows that you're brave to bare yourself (literally) to her.

*~*Most of this is tried and tested, pulled off my real life. I hope you had fun reading the list as I had writing it :D
