Review::Maybelline Colorshow in Red My Lips

I know I said that the lipstick I bought alongside my NYX Haute Couture would have a review posted "soon-ish", but I was doing some other stuff like fixing my shelf (singular for now; I've yet to work on others. But that one looks fabulous) and my table (also looks fabulous…or at least it used to), and trying to get a grip on my penmanship which went to crap since I didn't use it for months. But now I've found the time to actually write this down, so let's get started.

This is what the tube looks like. It's a lot different from the usual Maybelline lipsticks, and I really hope it stays that way because this style just looks more…professional(?) and just more mature looking. No offense to the to the original lipsticks, but they looked a bit more like those lipsticks that come in those little makeup sets for little girls. Sorry. But anyway, one look at this and you know that it means business.

I bought this lipstick because right now Maybelline is having a trial run of the Color Show line with really low trial prices. Get this…the price of this lipstick was Php165.

It honestly took everything I had in me not to buy all the shades at once and do my first haul ever. But I will come back for the rest of them. Give it time.

Now, on to the actual lipstick review. I smelled the lipstick. Was that weird? Do other people do that? Because I smelled the lipstick, and I have no idea why I smelled it, but good call that I did because it smelled a bit like cherries. There's this really pleasant and not overpowering at all smell to it, and I love that smell so much.

The lipstick itself is really creamy and smooth on the lips. It's also a bit sheer, so building and layering the color to make it more intense is definitely possible with this lipstick. The only problem I really had was when I was done applying it on my lips, because it's like it had this weird ability to make me super paranoid about how it looked on my lips. I keep asking myself if I put too much on, if the top and bottom lip are even, if I have a smudge and it looks like something that reminds me of me coloring with crayons when I was five, stuff like that. But once you get over it, and stop being paranoid, you realize that the application was perfect (or at least not sloppy, I'll settle for that one) and you're ready to go out.

For someone who likes really intense and opaque lipsticks, this is definitely not on my top five lipsticks, but I don't hate it. I mean, I have to build up all the color, but I've had that problem with most (if not all) my Maybelline lipsticks. It's something I can overlook for the sake of a good color, which it totally is. And when you apply it, you can smell cherries for the next few hours, which is a huge bonus for me.

I recently bought two more reds from NYX this time, and those reviews will be posted as soon as I have more time.
