Review::NYX Round Lipstick in Haute Couture

I'll be the first to admit the following things: 1) I have a lipstick addiction that cannot and will not be stopped, and 2) I am not a cosmetician. I know nothing about the technical terms of something related to cosmetics, so all I can say is how I feel about the way something looks on my skin and how much I like it, personally. That being said, I'm going to start reviewing lipstick (and maybe in the future, other lip care/lip makeup products as well. I don't know. Stay tuned; it might happen) on this blog and try to make up for the craziness that I did here.

So let's start with the NYX Round Lipstick in shade 586A Haute Couture. This is my first NYX lipstick because yesterday was the first time I've been face to face with a NYX makeup counter. I went to the one in Mall of Asia, and I had the full intention of buying just one shade, because I was going to buy another one along with the NYX one I was buying. And when it came to choosing that one shade, I felt such pressure and went on "Doge" mode, saying "Wow. Such shades. Much lipstick." The lady at the counter looked at me as if she understood because I'm going to say this right now: The struggle is real.

This picture was taken from the NYX Philippines Facebook page. I think I landed in heaven when I got there because there were so many shades to choose from, and they took "affordable" to a new level. One tube is Php260 and it was so tempting to do a lipstick haul that was NYX-themed, it took all I had in me to just choose one shade.

After a good thirty minutes of going back and forth from the stock shelves to the testers, I finally picked Haute Couture because it reminded me of a lipstick my mom bought me for a choir presentation literally a decade ago. So, there's the story, now on to the review!

I'm not going to say anything about the tube because it's your typical black tube of lipstick, something classic and classy at the same time. I'm going straight to the lipstick itself.

This is the color of the lipstick. There's something so "spacey" about its color from the tube alone. When I did a swatch of it on my hand, it looked like this nice shimmery purple-y pink shade and I said "This will look amazing on my lips" and thought something along the lines of this:

Then when I did put it on my lips this morning, it felt so creamy and smooth that I knew right away that I would love this color forever and this would be something I'd definitely repurchase. And then I saw the glitters that it leaves on your lips when you apply it and I felt like a kid again because glitters!!

Even after wiping off the lipstick itself, the glitter stays! And you just feel like this awesome person with the most shimmery lips around. It made me feel like this little kid again, so fascinated with the glitter on my face, and I felt so content with my life for those few seconds that I just shamelessly stared at my own lips, tilting my face just so that the glitters catch the light.

I knew, even though it was just the first time that I used it, that I would obsess over that color for years to come, and that this was by far, one of the best purchases that I'd made this year…maybe even in my lifetime.

There's also something really cool I discovered about NYX lipsticks…the little round bottom with the color swatch? The new ones have more lipstick in them that you could apply with a little brush, so the value for money goes up even higher than it already did! The one I got was the one with the sticky gummy thing, though, so it's probably one of the older productions of that color, but it's fine with me because the lipstick itself was already the best thing ever. Maybe next time I buy a NYX lipstick, I'll get lucky and get the one with more lipstick at the bottom.

I'll do another review soon about the other lipstick I bought alongside this one soon enough.
