Review::Maybelline Color Show in True Toffee

By some miracle of nature, my mother actually bought me lipstick last Thursday. She was randomly asking me questions about how much certain lipsticks were, and when I told her that the Maybelline Color Show lipsticks are still priced at Php165/tube, she said these exact words: "Let's go then".

Best part about it was that she let me choose which one I wanted. Of course, I didn't get a bold color because she's mentioned time and time again that if she were to tolerate me wearing lipstick, she would prefer that I wear nude shades...or at the most pink shades. So after deciding between Nude Mocha (which honestly, I would have preferred but I already had another lipstick just like it) and True Toffee, I obviously chose the second one. Truthfully, what I wanted to tell my mom was this:

But I held back. I'll come back for Nude Mocha another day. (Yes, that's happening. Prepare for another haul very soon!)

Moving on to the lipstick itself…
That's what it looks like. I've already said this back in my review of Red My Lips, but I love the packaging. You look at it and you know it means business, you know that it's not a children's toy. Some of the other lipsticks I own, like lip crayons for instance, actually look like markers. I'm so happy at this moment that there are no kids in my household because I fear they might take those and start playing with them. Not. Cool.

Right off the bat, I already knew that this would give me serious Concealer Lips because it's nearly the same color as my skin, if only a bit more orange-y. My mom thought that nude lipstick should match the skin, not the natural lip color, and she couldn't be more wrong. When buying nudes, make sure to take into consideration the natural tint of your lips. Your lips are at least a good three to five shades darker and more rosy than the rest of your body, assuming you're light or olive-skinned.

Surprisingly enough, the color didn't look too bad on me. In fact, I think I kind of pulled it off. Of course, I won't be posting pictures because that's just how I roll. Just believe it.

If you like looking like your lips have concealer on them, or at least having your lips way lighter than they normally are, then by all means, go for it. It's Php165, like I mentioned earlier, so you don't have much to lose if it doesn't work out. I, for one, really like it. I don't LOVE it, but I really like it, which is close enough. If I run out, will I repurchase? Probably not right away. I'm holding off immediate repurchases for limited edition things, or things being phased out like the Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks or the NYX Black Label Lipsticks. This one can wait.

P.S. I removed a good 80% of the posts on this blog so that it looks exactly the way I want it. No more random fandom posts for me, just lipsticks! And dat first post. :))
